One Republic, Black Eyed Peas, Dave Matthews Band and More on Day Two of KAABOO

One Republic, Black Eyed Peas, Dave Matthews Band and More on Day Two of KAABOO

Day two of KAABOO Del Mar went off without a hitch! Cheat Codes tossed dollar bills at fans, One Republic got intimate, Black Eyed Peas without Fergie?! This was just a glimpse in all of the excitement taking place in Del Mar!

The festival heated up under clear blues skies, a blazing sun and toasty temperatures that neared 80 degrees but felt steamy. With a refreshing Blue Moon on hand and the captivating sunset it was the perfect backdrop for One Republic!

“This festival is unbelievable, right?,” Ryan Tedder of One Republic stated. “Round of applause for KAABOO. You couldn’t pick a better location geographically if you dropped a pin and consulted with the weather channel. This is the best location to have a festival in North America — and I’ve played a lot of them. This is like if Coachella had air-conditioning.”

OneRepublic’s front man is a three-time Grammy winner for his work on songs by both Adele and Taylor Swift and is not new to mesmerizing a crowd. Throughout the set the band took the crowd on a journey of their hits over their 13-year career including a beautiful stripped down version of "Halo." The timing of this single could not have come at a better time and the audience loved every single part of it. Every single person in the crowd hung onto every word throughout the beautiful ballad.

OneRepublic staples like “Good Life,” “Stop and Stare” and “Apologize” were included, it was the chance to hear the band play hits from other major artists that provided the most interesting moments. The well curated set showcased his many talents while providing a glimpse into his other ventures. Tedder also assured the audience that despite a few years off from making albums, a new one, as well as an official North American tour, was coming shortly (thank goodness - amirite?!) The band brought up the energy and sent everyone into a massive sing-along with their colossal hit, “Counting Stars,” as they walked off stage.

Dave Matthews Band and Black Eyed Peas were the main closers with similar set times. Although attendees had to choose which to attend, which seems a little unfair, I would argue that the festival stacks its lineup this way to give a fair shot to the lesser known bands.

Black Eyed Peas gave one heck of a show for the close of day two. Murmurs in the crowd wondered what the show would be like since infamous Fergie would not be there to lead the mic! Will.I.AM and Taboo shut out the haters and delivered with a new member that had equally impressive powerhouse vocals!

The proudly upscale “experiential” festival offers a mix of music, comedy, art, cuisine and libations — along with lots of VIP perks and (for anyone who buys a daily pass) an elevated swimming pool and adjacent “beach club,” which both face the Sunset Cliffs Stage. This festival may have had a rough beginning in its previous years however, it looks like it's here to stay. Click HERE to see Day One coverage!
