Wordaful - Liz Hernandez Teaches Angelenos on How To Be More Thoughtful With Our Words

Friday, April 1st: I am so grateful to be have been invited to an intimate event and mixer for Wordaful founder  Liz Hernandez. It was fitting since cocktails and laughs are the perfect way to end Women’s History Month and Hernandez's media tour. Los Angeles was the final stop on Hernandez’s media tour for her thought-provoking digital platform Wordaful. Traveling all over the country to Miami, New York, Chicago, San Diego, and her home Los Angeles to collaborate with female community leaders to dissect how we communicate and collaborate as a community.

Liz Hernandez, is a “Mexican American Emmy-nominated television personality and journalist.” Known for being an LA radio personality, she transitioned to being an entertainment reporter on E! News, MTV, and more. Liz’ career is built on the foundation of using her words, connecting with people, and sometimes asking the hard questions.

“There’s No Room for Small Talk.” was the theme for not only the mixer but for the tour. Guests throughout the evening were encouraged to tell personal stories and ask uncomfortable questions. Wordaful not only encourages you to seek out more than small talk, but also to realize the power your words have. During the mixer another woman named Liz shared that Hernandez has been an inspiration for most of her life, she even started going by Liz too. That evening the joy Hernadez has brought to others was palpable. The way that she connected with all her guests is a testament to how much she values human connection. She even states the importance of being vulnerable and sharing our stories. “Our stories are our superpowers.’ Sharing not only our wins but our losses as well.”

Her want and need for connection is what fueled Wordaful, which first started as a passion project, and has become her “personal confessional”. After a difficult time with losing her mother to dementia, Hernandez figured “while my mother is losing her words, I don’t want to be careless with mine.” Even with all the successes of the last few years, Liz still faced many challenges as well.

In the face of grief and challenges, Hernandez wouldn’t let herself be silenced, saying “ So many times we shame ourselves with silence.” If this tour has shown her anything, it was that her fans feel the same need for connection and vulnerability. Not shaming herself into silence, has she created this digital platform, but a true community for people to feel connected to one another.

While guests enjoyed some tasty drinks and treats, Liz also gifted her friends some fun gifts to connect with themselves. Who doesn’t love self-care!? Guests received some beautiful smelling hand-poured candles by Sonix, who are known for their fashionable and durable phone cases. Guests also received some luxurious lip therapy by Elaluz, which includs 24k gold flakes…. BOUGIE! The goodie bag also included a Riddle fragrance roll-on, and Mario Badescu facial spray to give you a little glow.

Every week Liz uploads new content at Wordaful, which you can watch on Instagram, youtube, or directly on the Wordaful website. If you wanted to connect to people in your life, Liz has also turned Wordaful into a game. Perfect for game nights or getting to know someone when you start dating and everything in between.
